The Mythological Story of Someshwar Mahadev

According to Hindu mythology, Chandra Dev (the Moon God) was cursed by Prajapati Daksha to suffer from tuberculosis, also known as Kshaya Rog. Because of this curse, Chandra Dev began to lose his strength and radiance.

Following the advice of the gods, sages, and Lord Brahma, Chandra Dev performed intense penance and worshipped Lord Shiva for six months.

Pleased with his devotion and कठोर तपस्या, Lord Shiva appeared before Chandra Dev. Lord Shiva blessed him and freed him from the effects of the disease. He then manifested himself as Somnath Mahadev.
